Do all of your spices in random containers in the madness? It has always bugged me – I could never find what I needed (so I would have duplicates accidentally buy it) and no matter how neatly I put them on a lazy susan, they never stayed organized.
you’ve seen spice organizers out there, and for good reason. But you can be a little expensive. Here is a quick and inexpensive DIY organization idea . . . in a way, all of the clean up of your spices – make decoupage tins with Mod smorgasbord.
Once you’ve got your boxes are labeled, you can fill easily from the bulk section of the supermarket – it’s so much cheaper than buying the pre-packaged spices.
The cans can be stored on their sides in a drawer, stacked in the closet, or attach a magnet to the bottom and stick them on a metal surface.
need As the Label for spice cans
What are you:

food grade spice cans (we have us online at specialty bottle)
Computer & printer
X-acto knife
Straight Edge
Satin Mod hotchpotch
water-based polyurethane (like Verathane)

We found a cheap food grade spice tins online. They come in different sizes. I wanted to save them in the drawers on their sides, so I have to see the math, what would fit best.
measure the circumference of the cans. In a computer graphics program to create the labels. Set the width of the labels are slightly longer than the circumference to allow for some overlap.
We wanted a contemporary look so that we can use a simple "lowercase", " sans-serif font (Avenir). We repeated the title of the label, is the reverse of the type white of a light green background and the cut created marks between the labels for the reference to the cut.
Print the labels.
Trim-labels, according to the crop marks.
coat the back of the strips with Mod-smorgasbord.
Fasten carefully in the tin, overlapping ends.
let it dry, then coat the outside of the label. For added durability, coat with a layer of polyurethane.
That’s all there is to it – a very simple project, but it will make your life so much easier. Visit our blog Hammer Like A girl for the other project ideas and follow us there or on our Facebook page for regular updates!
