The Easy way to Decoupage plates with fabric Mod conglomeration of rocks
These decoupage sheets are so easy to make – and owls, you don’t have to. Choose your favorite fabric and Form; just add the Mod-smorgasbord.
Not only that, but the holidays are coming fast, and there are many edible gifts. My Suggestion? Decoupage glass plates from the thrift store! Yes . . . Mod hodgepodge of a design on the back, and you are good to go.
you aren’t believe how easy this is, there are minimal ingredients and steps, and you really can’t mess this up. I know a lot of bloggers say this, but I’m serious. You can’t. Here’s how I made my fab decoupage plates.
Collect These Supplies
- glass-plate – in every thrift store in the world, or to cut the dollar store
fabric Mod hotchpotch
fabric scraps to your stash – how many bits and pieces as you like
Design,, for the center of your plate.
you’ll first need to decide what to put them on the back of the plate. I only got fabric scraps, and went, this is what I recommend that you do. Pick through your stash and see what you have, then you lay out a few things. This is the fun part.
The key to a successful Mod Podging with fabric is preparing it first. This means that you can wash and dry the fabric to remove the sizing. Iron it and place it on wax paper. Coat the surface of the fabric with Mod smorgasbord and dry. This allows you to cut your fabric-NO FRAYING. It’s kind of awesome. That the Material to dry for about 20 minutes before cutting.
Make sure that your plate is washed and dried. Your fabric should be dry, so you cut a design for the center of your plate. I used the Spellbinders Nested owls and my Sizzix Big Shot – Yes, you can run, Mod Podged tissue by means of a punching machine. You can also cut a design freehand, or pieces of fabric to a design to make. This is up to you.
Add a THIN layer of Mod-pick-and-mix to the center of your plate. You don’t want too much Mod hodgepodge add on this project because your plate is never learned in a dry place (from experience). The owl or the shape of your choice, in the middle, and smooth. Wipe Mod collection that oozes from the page.
PS – Make sure that your fabric pattern-side down. This is a mistake that I would make to.
I decided to patchwork the back of my plate, so I grabbed my contrasting fabric kept (also with Mod smorgasbord) and cut squares/rectangles/4 double-sided forms, until I had enough to cover the back.
This part is so easy, you won't believe it. Keep Mod Podging fabric down – add a thin layer of Mod smorgasbord on the back of the panel and you press a square, over and over again, until it is covered again. Remember, don’t use too much Mod-smorgasbord.
Completely cover the back of the plate and then let it dry. For me, it lasted two full days, because I probably too much Mod-hodgepodge, although I told me. So it’should take t that long for you, since you are likely to hear.
Once the plate is dry, cut the fabric around the edges, and add a further layer to seal the plate over the entire back. Dryand you are good to go.br> As I said, if you are a beginner, you should try this project. You’ll love it and because it’t much to it, wrinkles are easy to avoid. Enjoy, because you will be the hit of the party/gift with your wheel plates.
Oh, and one note. Just hand-wash it on the top, and don’t soak in water. You can use a damp cloth to wipe off the Mod Podged part – fuel Mod smorgasbord is not waterproof, except when it is not the attachment from substance to substance.
