The decoration of the bags, with Mod-hodgepodge
The decoration of the bags is SO easy with this guide! You don’t need a sewing machine, and you’ll have a fairly canvas tote bags in minutes.
tote bags in all sizes, and this method for the decoration of the bags is so versatile that it’s easily customizable, depending on the size of the bag that you buy. You can also use any color of the bag as well. It’s no limit to the number of the bag and the glitter color combinations!
Before I show you how to decorate shopping bags with Mod hodgepodge, I’d like to have a few General questions and techniques you should know in order to conclude this project. I want to make sure that you can have success.
the application of the Glitter
Before you glitter to apply to your tote, make sure you use a middle layer of Mod-hodgepodge. You don’t want to miss areas, if you sprinkle all the glitter and Mod-smorgasbord in the rule starts to dry pretty quickly. After you sprinkle on your glitter, remove the stencil immediately, then allow to dry. Tap the excess, then shake the bag to remove the remaining loose glitter (do you want to maybe go outside).
If you see, to touch all of the areas that need to do that’s fine. You can go over the edge of their previous glitter and even more glitter. Just be careful to be, not the Mod-hodgepodge too thick for your second time, or it will be lumpy. You’llwill have to go thinner.br>A further option is the use of Glitter Mod smorgasbord or Sparkle Mod smorgasbord, if you don’t fuss with loose glitter want. You’ll want to apply to a spouncer instead of a brush (see what here). You will probably beat the end of the application of multiple layers (to reach on top of each other) the look you like.br>Mod smorgasbord vs. Heat n’ Bond
you may ask why we used heat n’ Bond on this project, in contrast to only hit fuel Mod smorgasbord on the back and slapped it on. The reason is because cotton material is a bit transparent if you add Mod-hodgepodge, the result is to show that the glitter (and the dead colour), by the patch.
If you have a thicker fabric, you can simply paint Mod smorgasbord on the back before gluing your applications to canvas tote bags.
Where you Canvas Tote bags
I’m the thicker canvas totes that you can find in us can a fan of buying Michael's or JoAnn to Buy. I feel like they are longer and just generally more durable, and from my experience, you are able to keep larger/heavier items without breaking.
Amazon and Oriental Trading Company also have great opportunities, and you can get higher quality bags or more thin, cheaper bags (if you want something cheap for a kids’ summer craft camp, for example). Pay attention to the reviews, if you buy tote bags online, and look closely at the pictures, so you will not be disappointed aren’t, if the bags arrive.
The last places that you can check (especially if you’re looking for inexpensive canvas tote bags) are Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart and Target Dollar Spot. These shops are a hit-or-miss when it comes to carrying bags, but you get usually a good thing, if you happen to you.

Canvas Tote Bag
fabric Mod hotchpotch
heat and Bond-Ultra-Hold
heat gun or hair dryer
ornaments (such as beads klebe optional)
Electronic die cutter (optional)
step 1. Cut a template for the circle on your cardboard square. I cut to make it with the help of my Silhouette Cameo, much easier, but you can definitely cut it with a pair of scissors. Stick it to the bottom of the bag with painter's tape, so you can be sure that it is centered.
step 2. Spread fabric Mod smorgasbord on the bag, so that you can be sure, inwardly of the edges, so that no glue is under the template. Given you don’t necessarily have to glitter the whole of the middle that the application will go there.
step 3. Sprinkle glitter on the wet Mod conglomeration, and then the template to remove. The wait to dry.
step 4. While the glitter is drying, the fabric quarter, with the heat and bond.
step 5. You cut your animal with the help of an electronic die cutter or scissors – I decided to go for a pug for my.
step 6. Keep your dog on the glitter circle. I used a hot glue gun and then it went on with an iron.
step 7. Finally, add your final decorations. I have a pearl collar for mine, use a hot glue gun and a pair of tweezers, the beads were tiny.
Let your canvas tote bag to cool/dry completely before use.
