What you need to do is glue:
1. Start by painting on a thick layer of Mod-hodgepodge Matt all around the middle area of your wooden spool.
2. You place the end of your baker’s twine in the vicinity of the center of the coil and cover in a layer of Mod-smorgasbord.
3. Then start the cord wrap around the spool starting at one edge. I wrapped it so that it was only a layer of yarn.
4. If you use the other edge, cut your yarn and fasten it with an additional layer of Mod-hodgepodge. I cover didn’t all of the twine with Mod smorgasbord to know because I wanted to see the thread and feel like fabric, but you want to use enough that your jewelry won’t start unwinding.
5. There are a lot of different ways that you could get these little spools into ornaments, but I ended up with thicker yarn and a hot glue gun.
First you make a loop with your cord and tie a knot at the bottom. Cut off the ends. Use a hot glue gun to attach the knot to the inside of the coil.
And you’re done! You could also make with embroidery thread, colorful ornaments, or something more fancy such as pom-pom garland for a really unique looking ornament. I love the simplicity of these little red and white ornaments on my Christmas tree.
