IKEA easel Makeover with Mod-hodgepodge
This IKEA easel was devastated topcoat by my 3-year-old, so I gave it a complete makeover with Mod smorgasbord clear panel. You’ll love how easy this is!
I know I’ve said this before but I’m so excited to share today’s makeover with everyone today!!
about 4 years ago for my boys and it’s in pretty bad shape. I’ve been wanting to give it a makeover for a while now.
I topcoat some Mod-smorgasbord-clear panel, and I practiced on something small. It worked perfectly!! So I thought I’T give to try this easel makeover. One of my favorite parts – you canI plan on implementing this in my son’s room, so I gave it a bit of a nautical makeover.
IKEA easel Makeover
For this makeover, you are going to need:
Collect These Supplies
Mod hodgepodge of Clear chalkboard Topcoat
Mod hodgepodge furniture Matt
As you can see, was in pretty BAD shape. My 3-year-old wrote about it, with a pen and a mess on the Board.
To get started, I have cleaned as best I could.
step 1 – color of the IKEA easel
I took out the easel and painted on two coats of white chalk paint. I let each layer dry for 30 minutes.
step 2 – Paint in Front of the panel,
I wanted to blue the table. I thought the blue against the white would be perfect. I painted on two coats and allow to dry for 30 minutes.
step 3 – Add, Erasing The chalkboard Topcoat
Now for the fun part!!!!! Add the clear chalkboard topcoat. As per the directions. I painted my first layer and let it dry for a hour, then painted, on my second layer.
Let it dry for 24 hours.
step 4 – Set table
I got a piece of chalk and rubbed it over the Board. Then I wiped it with a piece of cloth.
step 5 – Line tray with paper and Mod-hodgepodge
I wanted a “pop” add color to the drawer with some scrapbook paper. I cut the paper in half, then the size fits, the bottom of the tray.
I pulled out my “handy dandy” furniture Matt Mod smorgasbord. I have a layer on the bottom of the shell then carefully my scrapbook put paper on the top. I rubbed each of the bubbles.
Then I have some Mod smorgasbord on the top. Let it dry for 30 minutes.
step 6 – Add To add to your rope
you an extra touch to the easel I have with decorative rope. Rope is always a perfect nautical touch, right?!
I Measured it, then hot glued into place.
I’m SO happy with how my IKEA turned out easel makeover. I made a cute little banner for you (I’ll see how long that lasts “-“) and now I’ I;m ready to put it in my sons room!!
See how excited he is with the easel about his IKEA makeover!! Plus I think the tablet works better than before.
love the before-and-after-image!
After I went to this panel at a thrift store and found another. So I’ll give you a makeover for one of my other boys.
Just so everyone knows, I LOVE that clear chalkboard topcoat. I plan on a chalkboard for me now. Maybe a light coral color for my office!
