seen the lace jewelry around lately and love it. I have scraps of lots of lace laying around from my various projects: wedding dresses, baptism dresses . . . just your everyday sewing projects, lol! These lace earrings make only take a few minutes and are quite beautiful to Isabelle, don’t you think?
Before we get started, I wanted to go over a few frequently asked questions about the project – to use with some tips and tricks for what. Follow my guide below, and you’ll definitely have success with these lace earrings!
the tools you will Need’ll
you might Want a bit of jewelry tools for this project, if you’re planning on more jewelry or more sets of these earrings. You can get a basic kit online or in craft store. The reason for the tools is that they’ll have to open the jump rings, attach them to the top and the earring hook. You can pliers, needle-nose, as a temporary solution, but jewelry pliers are much better and won’t damage the metal.
note: Make sure that your jump rings are large enough for the lace and then attach to the earring hooks! You don’t want to go home with the wrong supplies.
tip to Use
It’s a variety of tips you can choose to work with this project. The color of the top doesn’t matter – that is up to you. The thickness does not matter. With these tips, earrings, we used lace tape, which is a bit thicker. It is a little thick, if you hold it between your fingers.
And that’s what you want with this project. It’s lace is heavy stiff enough for earrings, if it’s really thin. I also think that people sometimes work call the thicker lace, “lace, ric rac,” and that seems to be really good! Don’t be afraid to wind tape in the tip – that’s kind of a great option, I haven’t tried yet, but also realized would work, if you like these lace earrings.
Where to Get tip
If you don’t, tip of left over from a project, I recommend heading to save the craft. For variety, you’ll go to a craft store that sells fabric, such as JoAnn. However, I think that Michael's has lace on spools, and maybe even sold it in the yard.
Two more options for the chips: Etsy or eBay. There are vendors on both sides selling lace by the yard or in the scrap lot. Personally, I like to see my top before I buy them, but this is a viable and cost-effective option.
The Mod-hodgepodge formula?
cover the top bits on the earrings with Mod hodgepodge helps make them more durable and solid, and holds the tip from the solution. You could really!!! everyone of the Mod hodgepodge of formulas to achieve this Having said that, I’d go with either Glossy, Matte or Satin depending on the finish you want.
But you could also use fabric, Glitter, Outdoor . . no one will know what you used, except you! The fabric and Outdoor formulas are a bit more generous so you may need a sealer over the top when it comes to those of the formulas that you want to use.
Mod hodgepodge Stiffy
you may ask whether you can use Stiffy for this earring craft – and the answer is: Yes! In fact, Stiffy is stiff, the tip is a lot more as a Mod smorgasbord (if you can say’t by the name, that’s what you’s is made).
The reason that I didn’t use Stiffy in this project only because I show didn’t have it on hand, and I wanted to, that you may be using both. It’s really up to you. If you are a regular Mod-smorgasbord, the tip is still as moderately flexible. The Stiffy makes it much more stiff, but still a little flexible.

step One: Cut the bits of the top of the length and size you like.
step Two: coat the top with a middle layer of Mod-hodgepodge. If you do this, on a plate, peel and hang to dry. Or you can do this on aluminum foil, wax paper, or a Mod smorgasbord silicone Mat. If you do this, on one of these options, you can allow the top to dry before peeling up.
step Three: Once dry, insert a jump ring into the lace and add the earring pieces. Then wear. You’re going to love how easy they are.
These earrings make great gifts, and you can knock out several pairs in a session. All of the cutting, a variety of hand-crafted jewelry!
