Funkin Faux Pumpkin Fall Vases

You use to make a Funkin faux pumpkin, a pretty vase for fall! This project is so easy, and you can use it from year to year.
you already Have a project with a Funkin – the faux pumpkin? They are pretty amazing. I get them at Michaels every year, and I always stock up! They look very real and you can pumpkin to carve into it like a real! But unlike a real pumpkin, they don't rot, so you can use them from year to year.
The inside of a faux pumpkin is very similar to a real pumpkin – it's hollow. I realized that you actually have a floral block on the inside, and treating it as a vase . . . and so I came up with the idea for this faux pumpkin fall vases.
fill it with real or fake flowers, and you look perfect as part of your seasonal decor. Plus, they are a great quick and easy set-up-project!
Collect These Supplies

printer and paper
Clip art
Funkin fake pumpkins – 2
Mod hodgepodge Matt
fabric – small scraps in fall colors
Craft knife and Mat
kitchen knife
wax paper or parchment paper
sandpaper (optional)
Floral block – make sure it is “wet” foam

Use your knife to lightly trace a cutting line around the stem of your pumpkin. Then the cut begins – dip your knife straight down into the pumpkin, cut through, and repeat several times, until you have to cut all the way.
Remove the top and dispose of excess material that fell into the pumpkin. See, it feels like you are carving a real pumpkin-huh?
I laughed at how the pumpkin looked with the knife in it while I cut. Slightly spooky, don't you think?
tip: to Smooth the edges of the pumpkin with sandpaper, if you are rough (this is optional).
Choose the words/designs that you want to use, on the outside of the pumpkin. Open a word-processing program on your computer, choose a large, bold font that are easy to cut.
For silhouettes, search the internet for "free silhouette images" and choose one you want, copy and paste into your word document. Enlarge to fit your pumpkin and print.
tip: you can also turn any image into a silhouette in Photoshop with the help of this tutorial.
For the words which I cut out with tape on my paper on the printed side of the fabric and used the craft knife to you. I found the cutter particularly useful in the same areas.
you can play around with what kind of printed fabric you want to use. I wanted to keep with the autumn theme, so I took a more autumn-esque print, but creative! You can use the prints that you select fit the decor in your home, or you can go for a spookier print for Halloween.
For the silhouette, I simply taped the design onto the paper and cut with scissors.
Lay down your wax or parchment paper and place the words or silhouette face down. Spread Mod smorgasbord on the back.
Pick-up smoothing her letters, and fast, and the silhouette on the face of the pumpkin. Trim away any excess strands of fabric with the utility knife, but be careful not to cut through the pumpkin.
Now fill your fake pumpkin vases with floral blocks and then water . . . and the flowers of your choice. You don’t even have to mess with water and use fake flowers if you like! Isn't it beautiful and festive? They add such a wonderful touch to my seasonal decor.
