Spring Craft Ideas: Doily Banner
If you’re looking for easy spring craft ideas, this simple doily-is banner perfect. You can make it a fairly seasonal accent to your decor.
I recently found these large chipboard journals in the discount bins to save on crafts. I loved the flower shapes and I couldn't resist picking up a few packs. I was not sure what to do with the forms that I knew at first... but that the flower silhouettes would be nice for the spring.
When I came home . . . I thought that you punched the holes on each board, it would be the perfect way to hang the panels on a string, like a garland. So, I have work to do to decorate the shapes.
of chipboard is a great medium for use with decoupage. Could you really stick to anything . . . pretty scrapbooking paper, tissue paper . . . but I chose a simple doily for my flowers.

Collect These Supplies
Large chipboard shapes or chipboard magazines
paper doilies, 4" diameter
Mod smorgasbord of Satin
- keys (optional)
step one: brush a liberal layer of Mod smorgasbord on the center of each flower shape. Press a doily down into the glue and smooth out any bubbles. Let dry.
step two: apply another layer of decoupage over the top of each doily to seal them. Allow to dry the fur. Something decorative in the center of the doily (like a big button), you could glue it down but I liked the look of the flower, without anything else.
step three: Bind the chipboard pieces to a length of ribbon. Space each flower to create the evenly along the ribbon, your doily banner.
Then hang your floral banner somewhere and enjoy!
I tied mine to the railing at the bottom of our steps. I love the mix of green and white colors with the flower shapes. It is a perfect (and easy) to welcome a touch of spring in our house!
