Simple Magnetic chalkboard, Made with a Canvas
Valentine’s day is just around the corner! Everything is pink, puffy hearts. Well, not all of it . . . there are some valentine decorations that you can make for your house that can stay up all year. And this DIY magnetic chalkboard is one of them! At least in my humble opinion.What I like about this project is love, that I will two kinds of color – Magnet and panel – from a simple canvas that I bought on the cheap into something useful. I’m really happy with the result! Here’s how I did it.Collect a Magnetic Board on canvasa16" x 20" canvas, Martha Stewart Crafts chalkboard Paint – gray magnetic PaintMod hodgepodge acrylic molds – 6 heart, if you don’t, these are cut from card boardmod hodgepodge MatteRub-On transfer scrapbook paper and embellishments in the patterns of your choice craft glueMagnets glue stripsFoam brush paint brush pencil scissors Martha Stewart Crafts Gesso (optional)sandpaper (optional) I have this canvas in the Hobby Lobby clearance section for $3! Amazing, isn't it? I painted it with Gesso on the pattern cover. You can skip this step if you are using a new canvas. you Give the canvas three coats of magnetic paint with a foam brush, make sure to follow the instructions on the back of the glass. The stuff is thick, but don’t be intimidated. It won’t look at this lousy, when the project is completed. Even if your magnetic paint is rough, you can sand with the sand paper. Paint the entire canvas with two coats of chalkboard paint and allow to dry. Make sure that the color on the pages. After everything is dry, glue ribbon around the edge of the canvas. While the canvas dries, trace the Podgeable the heart to the scrapbook paper and cut them out. I used the Mod-hodgepodge Rub-Ons who have a couple of nice messages! You can use any stickers, really – just a little something to dress up the facades of the heart. Add Dimensional magic to the fronts of the hearts and let them dry for several hours. Attach the magnet strip to the back of the heart with craft glue and let them dry. I've got a tip for you. BEFORE you glue the magnets down, make sure that you are attaching to the canvas very well. You want a fairly strong magnet. If the magnets are too weak, they fall out easy, and it’s not good. Prepare the panel according to the instructions on the back of the color of the bottle. you now have a magnetic Board with two personalities – you can keep notes with the magnets, or you can write on the surface with chalk. Pretty cool, isn't it? This DIY magnetic chalkboard idea is ideal for an organization center, or to just tell your family that you love them.
