since I was a little girl, I’ve had a love of the freshness of the school. In fact, go back to school . . . not so much . . . but the new number 2 pencils and blank notebooks make me swoon!
Who doesn’t want to create a set of pretty personalized lead to begin a new school year? These also make great gifts – and are easy to do, with Mod-hodgepodge. You know, like the one below.
you’ll

pencils
-thin patterned paper {such as washi or origami paper weight:. . . thicker paper won the Start’t work as well}
a pair of scissors or an X-Acto knife
ruler
Mod hodgepodge Matt
brush

, cut the paper into strips, 6 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch.
brush a thin layer of Mod smorgasbord on the back of the paper strip. Not to overload you have to be careful, the paper, as it tears easily.
lining up the paper on the eraser end, tightly wrap the paper around the pencil, slowly rolling around and smoothing out bubbles, no bumps or air, if necessary.
Let the pins dry completely before grinding. {I found a hand sharpener worked best with the delicate paper.}
Keep your pretty new pencils all to yourself or share with a friend . . . I’m planning on gifting a pair to each of our new teachers in the fall!
